Vernovis Helps Raise over $100k for the Hoody Memorial

Vernovis Helps Raise Scholarship Funds For Local Students

Cincinnati, OH: Over the weekend, Vernovis sponsored the 7th Annual Hoody Memorial Golf Outing held on 6 August 2022 at the Glenview Golf Course and Back Porch. The event was well attended with over 275 golfers and raised well over $100,000.

The Hoody Memorial is a non-profit organization honoring the late MSG Corey Hood. Hood graduated Lakota West and went on to serve for five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was selected to The US Army Golden Knights, the US Army’s elite parachute team. Founded in 2016 by Vernovis COO and Partner, Ryan Gilley, as well as Nick Enger of ATC, Josh Zieverink and Adam Curry, The Hoody Memorial Scholarship Fund awards Lakota High School students who exemplify Hood’s outlook on life – “a strong will, desire to succeed and a little bit of grit.”

Gilley shares “The Hoody Memorial is not only a way to remember Corey’s name, it’s a way to remember what he stood for. Corey was someone who could unify both individuals and businesses around a common cause of giving back to the community. It takes a rare person to unite people the way Corey could. On top of all that, he was an American Hero.”

This year’s event included two tee times, a skydiving performance by Team Fastrax, dinner and an after party, raffles, Hoody Hoodlums kids park, bagpipers, color guard, and more!

The event and donations are the key driver in their longstanding $7,500 Annual Scholarship to a Graduation Lakota Student. This year they are pleased to announce the addition of two scholarships:

  • Hoody Memorial Lakota Athletics Fund – $7,500 Annual Grant to Support Lakota Athletics
  • Hoody Memorial Veteran’s & Active Service Member’s Fund – $7,500 Annual Grant to a Non-Profit Supporting Local Veterans and Service Members

About The Hoody Memorial

Hoody Memorial was established in 2016 in memory of MSG Corey Hood, a Lakota Graduate and US Army Golden Knight, to give back to the community Hood loved so much.

The Selection Committee for each of these funds are comprised of Hood’s family and friends that grew up with him in West Chester, Ohio. Even though he traveled all over the world, Corey would always tell people how great West Chester is, he loved his hometown and school.
